healing herbs

This is the all-star best herbal blend for absolutely anything that needs healing. I started my midwifery herbal venture growing comfrey, just so I could make this blend. Incredibly healing in many ways - for sitz baths (to treat hemorrhoids, varicosities, or healing bottoms after birth), making homemade postpartum perineum healing pads, healing herbal full body bath soaks, healing mama and newborn baths (completely safe and healing for newborns, the ideal first bath blend for mama and baby), fomentation (compresses), poultices, steam inhalation, vaginal steam baths to heal the womb, promote fertility, balance cycles. Treat swelling, pain, sprains, wounds, bruising, inflammation. Clean wounds and promote healing. Herbs make fantastic poultices after fomentation/topical tea has been strained. Don’t let the comfrey confusion deter you - studies used the root of the plant which they found to be hepatotoxic when injected in ridiculous concentrations. The leaves of the comfrey plant have completely different constituents are not only safe, but quite healing. Enjoy your healing journey… and I hope it involves planting lots of comfrey.

Herbal baths - There is a dying lost art from many traditional cultures that effectively used steam inhalation, vaginal steams, and herbal bath soaks as an effective way to absorb therapeutic herbal remedies. Lets bring back that lost knowledge, and incorporate aromatherapy to absorb medicinal herbs through the largest organ of your body, your skin, and the lungs, which have the largest surface area of your body for absorbing delicate herbal vapors. Topical absorption through the skin by soaking in medicinal teas, or inhalation to absorb through the lungs also means herbs that may be too bitter tasting to drink can still be therapeutically absorbed and systemically distributed throughout the body.

Herbal bathing instructions - Fill cotton bag with 1 cup herbs to a bathtub of water. Tie the bag shut, hang from faucet to infuse medicinal essences into water flowing through the herbs, or infuse bag directly into bathwater. Alternatively, boil 1 quart of water, add 1 cup herbs. Turn off heat, cover tightly. Steep 20 minutes or more. Strain and pour the herbal infusion directly into bath water.
